Unsettled 2025:
I recently led Unsettled, a Falmouth University-funded participatory arts project created by and for women who have fled domestic abuse and are rebuilding their lives with extraordinary resilience and courage. Developed in partnership with West Cornwall Women’s Aid, the project brought together photography, creative writing and story telling through zine making. The project culminated in a public exhibition showcasing participants’ own creative work. Following its successful launch at The Exchange Gallery, Penzance, as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, a touring exhibition and programme of events and panel discussions are planned to further raise awareness of domestic abuse, housing insecurity and recovery.
Current Research Project:
Death of a loved one can rupture your very being, the grieving process is a very personal journey and for some, one that does not fit into the dominant format around bereavement being a time limited and disembodied process. My current research investigates the physical sense of space in relation to a psychological sense of self through the process of grieving. Grief is a natural yet complex response to loss and can manifest in various ways, affecting individuals both physically and emotionally.
The research project for me is not just about the act of searching, studying or clarifying, but to spend time with the voids that are now so ever present in my life as well as the relationship that has emerged and continues to develop with the deceased through attachment with certain clothing, objects and domestic spaces.
